Introducing Pelican's Palette: Unleashing Creativity on Tybee Island!

Posted by William Bernzott on

Hello, art enthusiasts and creative souls of Tybee Island! We have some exciting news to share with you today. The renowned Irritable Pelican Gallery is proud to announce the opening of a brand new addition to their artistic haven - Pelican's Palette. This innovative classroom space is the first of its kind on Tybee Island, and it's set to become a hub for inspiration, learning, and community engagement.

Pelican's Palette is a collaborative effort between the talented working artists of Irritable Pelican Gallery: Gloria Dalton, Teresa Kassing, Cheryl Martin, and Bill & Sarah Bernzott. These visionary individuals recognized the need for a dedicated space where locals and visitors alike could come together to explore various art forms, crafts, and other community interests. With a shared passion for nurturing creativity, they set out to create a vibrant and welcoming environment that would foster artistic growth and connection.

The classroom enjoyed a soft opening in June, offering a sneak peek into the world of possibilities that await those who step through its doors. The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants praising the diverse range of workshops and classes already on offer. From painting to pottery, mixed media to jewelry making, Pelican's Palette aims to cater to a wide spectrum of artistic tastes and skill levels.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Pelican's Palette will be hosting its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony on August 1, 2023, at 5:30 PM. This event promises to be a delightful celebration of art, creativity, and community spirit. But that's not all! The Irritable Pelican Gallery has another surprise in store for its visitors - the unveiling of the Tiny Gallery.

The Tiny Gallery, a concept pioneered by the gallery, encourages visitors to participate in a unique artistic exchange. Guests are invited to take a piece of art that speaks to them and leave a piece of their own creation behind for others to enjoy. It's a beautiful way to foster a sense of community, share artistic inspiration, and create a collective gallery that is constantly evolving.

During the Grand Opening, attendees can indulge in delectable snacks, engage in exciting activities, and participate in arts and crafts projects designed to ignite their imagination. And don't forget the giveaways! Pelican's Palette and the Irritable Pelican Gallery are excited to share their appreciation for the community's support by offering a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

For those who can't make it to the Grand Opening, don't worry! Pelican's Palette will continue to enrich the Tybee community with a plethora of workshops, classes, and events throughout the year. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting your creative journey, there will always be something inspiring and enriching waiting for you at this vibrant artistic hub.

So mark your calendars for August 1, 2023, and join us in celebrating the birth of Pelican's Palette, a haven for creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression. The Irritable Pelican Gallery will also be keeping its doors open late on this momentous day, inviting you to explore the captivating works of art that grace their walls.

The future looks brighter and more colorful with Pelican's Palette in our midst. Let's come together as a community to support and nurture the arts, and create a thriving creative legacy on Tybee Island.

See you at the Grand Opening, where the magic of art comes alive!

Note: Please check the Irritable Pelican Gallery's website or contact them directly for any updates or changes regarding the Grand Opening event.

Look who's at the Jepson!!

Posted by Dianne Klevinski on

Becky Marcussen and Sarah Bernzott, artists at Irritable Pelican Artisan Gallery, were lucky enough to view the @Savannah Art Association Exhibition at the Jepson Center today, where each has a painting in the exhibition. With a little help (and wrangling) from Dianne Sullivan Klevinski, pictures were taken too!
We were so thrilled to see the work of several notable Tybee artists out of the nearly 30 pieces of artwork by current SAA members on display: Janet Sheppard, Cate Campbell, Sarah Bernzott and Becky Marcussen. Congratulations, everyone!
