"Royal Terns Against the Wind" on Tybee Jetty
12x16 Acyclic on Canvas by Merrill H. Neace. Each year, dozens of Royal Terns nest on Tybee Island. They nest in colonies on local island beaches. The Royal Tern lays a single white/brown spotted egg on a scrape on the ground. They have few predators as adults but the eggs and newborn chicks are threatened by everything from gulls to rats. Merrill Neace has captured these beautiful shore birds, standing strong against the wind, on Tybee Island's rock jetty.
